Exploring New Opportunities for Development! A Restaurant Enterprise Symposium Is Held
To thoroughly implement the directives of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Fujian Province on promoting service consumption and to further advance the high-quality development of the catering industry, the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce convened a symposium with restaurant enterprises on April 7. The symposium brought together representatives from 13 companies, including Juchunyuan, Jingyuan Group, and Hexieyuan, as well as experts, scholars, and media professionals, to exchange views, understand the status quo of the industry, gather opinions and suggestions, and respond to enterprise concerns. Hang Dong, Deputy Director-General of the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, along with officials from the Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Taijiang District People’s Government, attended the symposium.
At the symposium, representatives from participating restaurant enterprises shared updates on their current operations, challenges they are facing, and proposed policy-related suggestions.
Enterprises such as Juchunyuan and Jingyuan Group expressed hope for increased efforts in talent training for the restaurant industry.
Michelin and Black Pearl-awarded restaurants like Wenru No. 9 and Xuanheyuan noted that being listed in authoritative restaurant rating systems has significantly boosted the visibility and reputation of new Fujian cuisine.
Chain brands such as Minnan Minnan, Wang Zhuang A Mi, Share My Way, and Podian suggested continued promotion of the “Go Global with Fujian Cuisine” initiative and called for strengthened marketing efforts in out-of-province markets.
Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce emphasized that the catering industry plays a key role in boosting consumption, improving livelihoods, and stabilizing employment. While Fujian’s restaurant market has shown steady recovery in recent years, it still faces challenges such as rising costs, intensified competition, and increasingly diverse consumer demands. Restaurant enterprises must proactively adapt to new consumer trends and increase service quality and innovation capabilities.
Moving forward, the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce will carefully consider the suggestions raised by the entrepreneurs and will formulate timely measures to support the development of the catering industry. It aims to further improve the business environment, strengthen the cultivation of restaurant brands and talent, help enterprises overcome difficulties, and work in close partnership with businesses to foster a more favorable environment for the high-quality development of Fujian’s catering sector.
It’s learned that Fujian’s catering revenue grew by 7.0% year on year in January and February, 2.7 percentage points higher than the national average. In Fuzhou, the operating revenue of large-scale catering enterprises reached RMB 4.61 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15.5%.
