Pork wonton, also known as “Taiping Wonton,” is a traditional dish commonly enjoyed during festive occasions in Fuzhou. Fuzhou people enjoy “Taiping Wonton” during holidays and family gatherings, as it symbolizes peace and safety. It is often said that “a feast is never complete without wontons, and no New Year celebration is truly whole without them.” However, the Fuzhou pork wonton industry has long been fragmented, making it difficult to expand and scale up production. After the establishment of the Fuzhou Pork Wonton Association, it will guide companies and workshops involved in the production, operation, and sale of pork wontons toward centralized production and operations, further promoting the healthy development of the industry.

The newly elected President, Chen Biao, expressed his commitment to uniting the Board of Directors, establishing a strong platform for the association, and using it as a bridge to lead the pork wonton industry forward in branding, standardization, chain operations, industrialization, and digitalization, thus bringing Taiping Wonton to the global stage.

This year, the association will focus on three key initiatives: First, to promote school-enterprise cooperation, apply for the establishment of industry standards for Fuzhou pork wontons, and offer production technique training to expand the workforce. Second, to balance the preservation of traditional cuisine with innovation by developing a range of new products. Third, to actively promote culinary culture, celebrate local delicacies, and introduce Taiwanese cuisine to strengthen cross-strait culinary exchanges,” said Chen Biao.

Zou Jianmin, a leader from the Fuzhou Civil Affairs Bureau, and Huang Feng, a leader from the Fuzhou Federation of Commerce & Industry, delivered important speeches from their respective perspectives. Zou Jianmin offered three key suggestions: First, to define the association’s role clearly, tackle challenges head-on, and strengthen the sense of responsibility in its work. Second, to improve the system, broaden its functions, and elevate the association’s overall performance. Third, to reinforce Party leadership, boost departmental participation, and leverage the association’s efforts to foster a positive environment. Huang Feng shared three key aspirations: First, to uphold integrity and innovation, forge ahead with courage, and serve as a role model for healthy development in the business community. Second, to connect resources, leverage complementary strengths, and set an example for open collaboration. Third, to strengthen internal capabilities, enhance services, and build a harmonious and welcoming environment. Both leaders expressed their hope that the association will forge ahead with determination and make even greater contributions to the development of Fuzhou’s food industry.
