According to reports from central media, in the 12,000-mu abalone farming area off Songlu Bay in Xiagong Town, Lianjiang County, fishermen can be seen driving their boats to lift abalone cages from the deep sea, creating a scene of abundant harvest
On the shore, workers unload the abalone cages in an organized manner, then transport them to a central sorting area for sorting, cleaning, boxing, and weighing, before loading them onto trucks for rapid shipment to destinations nationwide.

“This batch of harvested abalones is from the ‘Fu Bao No. 1’ variety, all fed with kelp and seaweed, and has reached the market-ready size,” said Dai Qiping, an abalone farmer from Chilu Village. The town’s abalones are sold not only to agricultural markets in cities like Fuzhou, Putian, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, but also to processing companies in Lianjiang, where they are further processed and shipped worldwide via cold chain logistics.
“Lianjiang abalones are large, tender, and visually appealing, which makes them highly sought after in the market. Every harvest season, we travel to Xiagong to buy between 150 and 200 tons of abalones,” said Guo Jun, an abalone distributor.
According to statistics, around 500 million abalones from the Songlu Bay abalone farming area in Xiagong Town are expected to hit the market this summer, with an expected output of over 20,000 tons and a market value surpassing 1 billion yuan.
