Fujian Unveils Key Farm Crop Varieties and Recommended Technologies, 6 Fuzhou Projects Selected
Recently, the Fujian Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released the list of key farm crop varieties and recommended agricultural technologies for 2025. Six projects from Fuzhou were included in the list.
The selected projects from Fuzhou include three key farm crop varieties: Qinglan No. 2, Tianmei No. 38, and Xuetiannuo 321, and three recommended agricultural technologies: low-stem dwarfing grafting technology for olives, intercropping Yazhou hard-shell beans in orchards to enhance quality and productivity, and estrus synchronization and early pregnancy diagnosis techniques for sheep.
According to reports, “Qinglan No. 2” is a medium-maturing olive variety with a crisp texture, easy-to-crumble flesh, and a mild astringency. It boasts high-quality fresh fruit and is known for its impressive yield, making it ideal for promotion and application in olive-producing areas like Fujian, Guangdong, and Guangxi. “Tianmei No. 38” is a medium-maturing variety of bitter melon known for its strong overall disease resistance, especially against wilt. Its fruits feature glossy, vibrant green skin and a high proportion of female flowers. This variety is well-suited for cultivation in spring and autumn in regions such as Fujian, Guangdong, and Sichuan. “Xuetiannuo 321” is a high-yielding variety of sweet and glutinous corn that exhibits strong resistance to key diseases, including Helminthosporium turcicum, Helminthosporium maydis, Puccinia sorghi, stem rot, and maize rough dwarf virus (MRDV). It is ideally suited for cultivation in the glutinous corn-growing areas of Fujian Province. (Fuzhou Daily Reporter: Lan Yuping)
