Currently, 3,000 mu of spring bamboo shoots in Lianjiang’s Liaoyan Township are rushing to hit the market while they’re fresh.
Recently, in the lush bamboo forests of Xidong Village in Liaoyan Township, sweet bamboo shoots have been emerging after the rain. Using their experience, the villagers search for the shoots that have just started to sprout and skillfully dig them out of the soil with their bamboo spades.
According to reports, the sweet bamboo shoot planting area in Xidong Village covers 3,000 mu, with the harvest season running from March to May. “Liaoyan Township cultivates several types of bamboo shoots, including Sanyuema, sweet shoots, Liuyuema, and winter shoots, but the spring sweet shoots are by far the most popular,” said Zheng Jiachang, Party Secretary of Xidong Village.
