“A Bite of Fuzhou” Collaborates with “Good Gift in Fuzhou” on City-Level Souvenir Launch

The “Taste of Fuzhou, Ten Delicacies” Gift Box is Now Available

The first city-level souvenir gift box, “Taste of Fuzhou, Ten Delicacies,” is set to be launched. This special edition is a collaboration between Fuzhou’s public consumption brand, “Good Gift in Fuzhou,” and the city’s culinary icon, “A Bite of Fuzhou.”

This gift box is crafted as a city souvenir, featuring a carefully curated selection of signature local specialties from Fuzhou Shiyi (Fuzhou’s ten counties). It seamlessly blends the cultural essence of Fuzhou with digital interactive experiences, aiming to set a new benchmark for official gifts that embody the rich heritage of Fuzhou, the City of Blessings, and become the top choice for visitors.

Crafting an Immersive Gift Unboxing Experience

Historically, Fuzhou Prefecture encompassed a larger area than the modern city of Fuzhou. Under the old administrative system, Fuzhou Prefecture included ten counties: Minxian, Houguan, Fuqing, Changle, Lianjiang, Luoyuan, Minqing, Yongfu, Gutian, and Pingnan. As a result, locals coined the term “Fuzhou Shiyi” to refer to this region. Even though the administrative boundaries have changed over time, this sense of identity remains deeply rooted in the hearts of locals, especially among overseas Chinese communities. Today, Fuzhou Shiyi associations can be found in many parts of the world.

The gift box, titled “Taste of Fuzhou, Ten Delicacies,” features ten key specialties from Shiyi. It also creatively incorporates three major cultural design elements.

The gift box features a hand-drawn map from the Chronicles of Local Specialties in Shiyi, which artistically traces the history of Fuzhou’s specialties, along with a guide on how to savor these specialties. This cultural item not only shares the historical stories behind the ten core specialties of Shiyi but also includes hand-drawn depictions of their natural growing environments, adding a rich storytelling element.

The gift box incorporates innovative audiovisual technology, featuring the phrase, “My native accent never changed, but sideburns a fading gray—my voice will travel overseas.” By scanning the QR codes on each of the Shiyi core specialty products, users can access short videos in ten different dialects that introduce the product’s origins. These videos cover everything from traditional craftsmanship and local stories to interviews with artisans, bringing traditional flavors to life through regional accents.

The gift box offers a blind box experience: opening it feels like unlocking a treasure chest from Fuzhou Shiyi, with delightful surprises appearing like magic. From fridge magnets and dialect stickers to seed-filled lucky bags, the excitement of unboxing is all about those “Wow!” moments.

City-wide Promotion to Support the Integration of Culture, Commerce, and Tourism

According to the project team, the gift box is expected to launch as early as August, with a product release event to be held at the Fujian Cuisine Museum. At the same time, the ten partner merchants of the Fuzhou Shiyi gift box will take turns hosting themed promotional events at “Good Gift in Fuzhou” stores, offering a truly spectacular cultural experience.

The gift boxes will also be available at “Good Gift in Fuzhou” stores at key locations, including the train station, Sanfang Qixiang, Shangxiahang, and other partner venues. Additionally, major hotels under Juchunyuan will promote the gift box to guests, who can have it delivered directly to their homes by simply providing their address.

In addition, the culture, commerce, and tourism platform “Fujian Bamin Fuwan” under Fuzhou Daily will offer 10 exclusive discounts of the “Shiyi Culinary Culture Tour” for the gift box. By using the “Fujian Bamin Fuwan Card,” customers can unlock special discount coupons for the gift box.

Besides, this gift box will be added to the procurement catalog for labor unions in Fuzhou, Pingtan, and other regions, making it the preferred choice for employee benefits and holiday gifts for businesses and organizations.

This gift box will be available for purchase on e-commerce platforms such as “Good Gift in Fuzhou,” “Yunshang Juchunyuan,” “A Bite of Fuzhou,” and “HAO WU FUZHOU.” Additionally, a “Perfect Taste of Fuzhou” challenge will be launched on platforms like Douyin and Xiaohongshu. Users can join by posting videos featuring local specialties for a chance to win the gift box.

It’s worth noting that, moving forward, for every gift box sold, the project team will donate 1 yuan to the “Fuzhou Ancient Building Preservation Fund,” creating a sustainable cycle of both commercial value and social responsibility.

“From A Bite of Fuzhou to local specialties from Shiyi, this gift box embodies the city’s cultural essence,” said the project leader. This marks the first collaboration between “Good Gift in Fuzhou” and the media under a new government-business-media partnership model, with an initial target of 30,000 boxes to be sold. There are also plans to launch a seafood gift box called “Minhai Feast” soon.
