From Zheng He Lan, which specializes in Fujian-Cantonese fusion seafood inspired by the Zheng He maritime route, to Longfuji, known for its authentic Fuzhou traditional snacks, the variety of delicacies at Daming Food Street is truly dazzling. On January 30, as visitors strolled from one end of the street to the other, they were greeted with an endless array of mouthwatering food, lively street performances, and a bustling market featuring time-honored Fujian brands and creative cultural products.

“Boss, I’ll take an order of cherry duck!”

“Coming right up! We’ve also got a spin-the-wheel game for you!”

Following the lively voices, the reporter spotted the “Taiwan Kitchen” food truck, now adorned with festive New Year decorations. Locals and tourists alike flocked to take photos in front of the New Year-themed displays, while others eagerly tried their luck at the spin-the-wheel prize draw, adding to the vibrant and joyful atmosphere.

“This is the first Spring Festival since the upgrade and renovation of Daming Food Street, and we are taking it very seriously. Recently, we’ve seen a significant increase in foot traffic, with many visitors coming from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. We hope to foster connections through diverse and interactive experiences,” said Liu Yuxiang, owner of “Taiwan Kitchen.” To celebrate the occasion, they have introduced festive dishes, including the vibrant red and tender Cherry Duck, the Oyster and Intestine Noodles that combine the best of land and sea flavors, the Herbal Pork Knuckle Soup symbolizing good fortune, and the Manfu Tofu Pudding, representing family reunion. Through these offerings, they aim to share the authentic taste of traditional Taiwanese cuisine with an even wider audience.

Not far away, the “8burger” food truck fills the air with its mouthwatering aroma and has even become an “English Corner.” Mark, the owner from Chicago, USA, flips burgers while chatting with customers and making new friends. “8burger offers eight unique burger options,” he explains, showcasing his “healthy burgers.” The buns are homemade, delivering a perfect combination of a crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior when served fresh. The patties are made from premium ingredients imported from three different countries, while the specially pickled cucumbers add a delightful finishing touch, elevating the overall flavor.

Located in the Guxi Subdistrict of Gulou District, Daming Food Street holds a special place in the hearts of locals, serving as a repository of cherished memories and emotional connections. Following its upgrade, the street now centers around the theme of “Maritime Silk Road Culture”, featuring three distinct thematic zones: Fujian, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. By seamlessly blending signature cuisines with cultural and creative elements, it has redefined itself as a cutting-edge urban culinary destination.

From January 29 to February 4, Daming Food Street will be open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, inviting visitors to indulge in delicious food, share stories, and shop for festive goods. Laughter and joy echo through every corner of the street as people immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere. Ms. Chen from Hangzhou and her family were captivated by the experience, describing it as “an immersive journey of flavors and culture.” (Fuzhou Daily Reporter: Mo Siyu)
