Fuzhou’s “Landmark Banquet” Debuts, Featuring Zhanggang Sea Clams and Minqing Maojiao Chicken
Fuzhou recently debuted its first-ever “Landmark Banquet” in Luozhou, Cangshan District, creatively incorporating geographical indication (GI) products such as Minqing Maojiao Chicken, Yongtai Camellia Oil, and Jasmine Tea into the dishes. This initiative brings national GI products to the everyday dining table, promoting their role in driving the development of regional specialty industries.
The “Landmark Banquet” features a selection of signature dishes that highlight local ingredients at their finest, such asfresh and sweet chicken broth with sea clams from Zhanggang, Changle, mellow and savory Minqing Maojiao chicken stewed with red mushrooms from northern Fujian, and light, fragrant jasmine jelly from Fuzhou... Rich in color, aroma, and flavor, the banquet offers more than just a sensory delight. It captures the essence of Fuzhou, a city where mountains, sea, and urban charm harmoniously converge.
Fuzhou is a demonstration zone for the protection of national GI products. Its “Mountain, Sea, and City” GI matrix includes 37 GI trademarks and 11 protected GI products. Whether it’s Yongtai dried plums, Minqing olives, Changle Zhanggang sea clams, or Lianjiang Dinghai Bay anchovies, each of these GIs represents a vital form of intellectual property. Theyare not only a mark of distinction for local specialties but also serve as a powerful engine for regional economic development and rural revitalization.
How can we fully unlock the cultural significance and economic value of GIs to truly bring these landmarks to life? The Fuzhou Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Bureau), in collaboration with the Cangshan District Market Regulation Bureau (Intellectual Property Bureau), Luozhou Town Government, and other departments, launched the “Landmark Banquet” in Luozhou, Cangshan, knownas the “Hometown for the Emperor’s Tutor.”Leveraging local hot spring resources and ancient town culture, the banquet is built on GI ingredients and innovatively combines traditional Fujian culinary techniques by a team of local chefs. It preserves Fujian cuisine’s essence of “original flavor and freshness” while adapting to modern culinary aesthetics. This provides a new approach to the high-quality development of Fuzhou’s geographical indications and injects new momentum into the integration of culture and tourism.
