Food and scenery are the most captivating pleasures of life. On March 28, the “One County, One Table of Dishes” Promotion Conference, co-hosted by the Cangshan District Government and Fuzhou Juchunyuan Group, took place at the Fujian Cuisine Culture Museum under the theme “Impression Cangshan, Cultural Feast.” Eighteen meticulously crafted dishes were unveiled, offering a culinary feast that blends Cangshan’s natural beauty, historical legacy, and intangible cultural heritage techniques.

Cangshan, known as “Qionghua Yudao” (a beautiful island of cultural richness), is not only home to the rich historical heritage of Yantai Mountain and Linpu Ancient Village but also boasts a distinctive culinary culture. This feast is designed around the themes of “Mountains, Rivers, Houses, Alleys, and Ports,” with seven major culinary chapters and 18 classic seasonal dishes. Among these, 14 dishes represent Cangshan’s 14 cultural heritage sites, while four vibrant fruit dishes symbolize the four protected streets and alleys of Yantai Mountain.

A closer look reveals that each dish’s name carries a hidden reference to a unique location. For instance, “Longtanjiao Charm · Fermented Red Rice Wine Eel” refers to Longtanjiao on Cangqian Road, where Chen Jinggu prayed for rain. “Meiwu Morning Dew · Jasmine Chicken” draws inspiration from the picturesque Yantai Mountain… As guests savor the exquisite dishes, they also immerse themselves in the multicultural allure of Yantai Mountain, the vibrant fishing culture along the Minjiang River, the wellness traditions of ancient houses, the lively energy of the streets and alleys, and the timeless ferry scenes at Sanjiangkou.

This menu subtly aligns with the four seasons of Cangshan, blending seasonal ingredients with the area’s historical backdrop. For instance, in spring, the fresh dishes from Taoyuan celebrate vitality; in summer, river delicacies from the heart of the Minjiang River capture the season’s lively spirit; in autumn, wellness dishes from Shicuo embody the essence of the harvest; and in winter, hearty stews from Lin Sen’s former residence evoke warmth and emotional comfort on cold days.

“We aim to use food as a bridge to deeply explore the cultural essence of Cangshan, promote the integration of gastronomy and cultural tourism, and establish a distinctive Cangshan culinary brand,” said a relevant official from the Cangshan District Bureau of Commerce. In the process of developing the “One County, One Table of Dishes” initiative, we have not only delved into traditional recipes and invited renowned Fujian chefs to restore ancient cooking techniques and preserve authentic flavors, but we have also incorporated modern healthy eating principles, blending elements of Minjiang River culture, jasmine flower culture, and more.

At the press conference for the “One County, One Table of Dishes + Cultural Tourism” and “One County, One Table of Dishes + Local Specialty Banquet” initiative, the first of its kind in the city, the Cangshan District Bureau of Commerce granted the “Impression Cangshan, Cultural Feast” brand license to the first batch of six partner companies.

According to the relevant official from the Cangshan District Bureau of Commerce, they will continue to enhance promotional efforts to make this banquet a cultural hallmark of Cangshan. This initiative aims to attract more visitors to savor Cangshan’s cuisine and experience the charm of its culture. (Fuzhou Daily Reporter: Lin Han)
