Fujian Cuisine Promotion in Huai’an, Jiangsu Province, and Four Masters Join Hands to Show Classic Cuisine
On September 19, the Fujian Cuisine Promotion Conference of Fuzhou’s Application for “World Cuisine Capital” was held in Huai’an, Jiangsu.

At the scene, four masters of Fujian cuisine, including Luo Shiwei, a national ICH inheritor, Chen Hui, a China culinary master, Qiang Zhentao, a China culinary master, and Lin Shuidi, a winner of the Blue Ribbon Medal in the World Cooking Competition, jointly displayed two classic Fujian dishes, litchi meat and fragrant sea snail slices, so that Huai’an guests could feel the exquisite skills of Fujian cuisine in an immersive way.
Four century-old Chinese time-honored brands also brought Fujian snacks with sweet, sour, salty and fragrant flavors-Wonton, Fish ball, sweet dumplings and taro paste, which led the Fujian flavor to Huai 'an.
The activity was guided by the municipal government, sponsored by the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and co-organized by Juchunyuan Group and the Municipal Catering and Cooking Industry Association. On the same day, Huang Lubing, president of Fuzhou Catering and Cooking Association, exchanged flags with Cai Junming, president of Huai’an Cooking Association, and the two associations became partners. The leading guests of the two places awarded the plaque of “Fujian Cuisine and Huaiyang Cuisine Exchange Base” to 20 famous local catering enterprises in Huai’an, trying to inject new vitality into the development of catering industry in the two places with the strength of catering associations and enterprises.
Since June, 2022, Fuzhou has started to apply for the creation of UNESCO’s creative city network-“World Food Capital”, and has successively won the honorary titles of “International Food Capital (Fujian Cuisine)” and “China Fuzhou Fujian Cuisine Landmark City”. Among them, the “Blessed State Food Capital” Fujian Cuisine Promotion Conference, as an important measure for Fuzhou to create the world food capital and a brand activity for Fujian cuisine culture promotion, has traveled to five cities including Shanghai, Yangzhou, Chengdu, Shunde and Huai’an since 2023.
The relevant person in charge of Fuzhou said that he hoped to learn from the advanced experience of Huai’an’s application for food capital and promote the catering industry in Fuzhou and Huai’an to go hand in hand through the exchange and collision between Fujian cuisine and Huaiyang cuisine. “Driven by the application, Fuzhou’s catering industry has generated new vitality in generate. In the first half of this year, Fuzhou’s catering turnover was RMB 26.58 billion, a year-on-year increase of over 13.2%.” According to the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, at present, the catering industry in Fuzhou presents a good trend of high-end, brand and international development, and has attracted three high-end catering evaluation systems, namely, the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, the Michelin Guide and the Golden Wutong China Restaurant Guide, to Fuzhou.
