Fuzhou Receives the International Friendship City Award for Outstanding Contribution
Exciting news came on November 19: both Fujian Province and Fuzhou have been honored with prestigious awards!
From November 18 to 19, the 2024 China International Friendship Cities Conference was held in Kunming, Yunnan. On the morning of November 19, the “International Friendship City Award for Outstanding Contribution” was presented to cities and provinces that have demonstrated exceptional efforts in promoting sister-city relations.
After the preliminary selection, 10 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and 10 cities were honored with this prestigious award.
Here is the list of the provinces and cities that received the award:

Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Fujian Province, Shandong Province, Guangdong Province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province, Shaanxi Province, and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia; Shenyang City, Liaoning Province; Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province; Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province; Fuzhou City, Fujian Province; Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province; Wuhan City, Hubei Province; Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region; Chengdu City, Sichuan Province; and Kunming City, Yunnan Province.
The China International Friendship Cities Conference is the largest and most prestigious institutional meeting related to sister cities in China. It was co-founded in 2008 by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the China International Friendship Cities Association (CIFCA).
Previously, in recognition of Fuzhou’s outstanding contributions to international sister city relations, the CPAFFC and the CIFCA awarded Fuzhou the “International Friendship Cities Exchange & Cooperation Award” in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2018. In 2016, Fuzhou received the “International Friendship City Award for Special Contribution.” Additionally, Fuzhou’s sister cities—Nagasaki and Naha in Japan, and Tacoma in the United States—were honored with the “Friendship Cities Exchange and Cooperation with China Award” successively.
Themed “Common Prosperity, Shared Future,” the 2024 China International Friendship Cities Conference was co-hosted by the CPAFFC, CIFCA, and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, and organized by the People’s Government of Kunming City.
