Chen Jinggu Culture Goes Global on a Large Scale for the First Time
Fuzhou-Malaysia Cultural, Tourism, and Business Exchange Kicks Off in Cangshan
On May 7, the 2025 Fuzhou-Malaysia Cultural, Tourism, and Business Exchange and the Chen Jinggu Culture Maritime Silk Road Tour officially commenced on Love Island in the Heart of the Min River under the theme of “Blessings from Nantai, Spreading Fuzhou’s Heritage along the Maritime Silk Road”.
At the opening ceremony, representatives from the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board and Cangshan District People’s Government delivered speeches, expressing their shared aspirations for strengthening China-Malaysia cultural, tourism, and commercial exchanges. Following the speeches, both parties exchanged gifts as symbols of enduring friendship.
The event featured dance performances with Fuzhou’s characteristics presented by the Traditional Culture Promotion Association of Cangshan District, including dances such as Bestowal of Blessings by the Goddess of Linshui and The Blessed Lady with a Hairpin Blade, as well as songs like Voyage of Mother and Fuzhou, the Most Beautiful Blessed Land on Earth, all of which showcased the unique charm of Mindu culture. After the ceremony, guests from both China and Malaysia participated in a dialogue session titled “Best Distance with Tian Tian” to discuss topics such as cultural tourism collaboration and heritage preservation in depth.
It is learned that taking the establishment of sisterhood between the Yantaishan Historic and Cultural Block in Cangshan District, Fuzhou, and the Jonker Street Block in Melaka, Malaysia as an opportunity, both sides will launch a series of events to promote the dual global outreach of culture and commerce. This event marks the first large-scale international debut of Chen Jinggu culture. According to the organizers, this event will serve as a new starting point for deepening China-Malaysia cooperation in culture, tourism, and business, and will elevate cultural exchange along the Maritime Silk Road to new heights.
The series of events will be held in both Fuzhou and Malaysia from May 7 to 14 and will include a special exhibition on Chen Jinggu’s intangible cultural heritage, tourism and cultural resource exchange sessions, and bonding gatherings. On May 8, 150 representatives from Fuzhou’s intangible cultural heritage institutions, Yantaishan merchants, and Chen Jinggu cultural ambassadors will board a direct chartered flight themed “Blessings from Nantai, Spreading Fuzhou’s Heritage along the Maritime Silk Road” from Fuzhou Changle International Airport to Malaysia. The flight will be decorated with images representing Cangshan’s intangible cultural heritage, providing passengers with an immersive experience of Fuzhou’s rich culture through in-flight announcements, meals, and brochures, adding a special flair to this journey along the Maritime Silk Road.
